Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump may discuss control over the “Zangezur Corridor”—a transportation route between Armenia and Azerbaijan—during their meeting in Alaska, Viktor Vodolatsky, first deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, told TASS.

“The issue of control over the Zangezur corridor, among other things, will be addressed at the bilateral meeting of the Russian and US presidents,” he said.

On August 8, following a trilateral meeting with US President Donald Trump in Washington, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed a joint declaration on a peaceful settlement between Yerevan and Baku and the creation of a transport corridor between the two countries. The transportation corridor will be named “Trump’s Route for International Peace and Prosperity.” Armenia has granted the United States the right to manage this corridor for 99 years.
