A presidential decree limiting the amount of cash that may be taken out of the country came into force in Russia on April 1.
It is now prohibited to take cash equivalent to more than $100,000 out of the country to EAEU member states: Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan. For individual entrepreneurs and legal entities, the ban applies regardless of the amount.
An exception is made for funds taken out through airports in Moscow and Vladivostok. According to the decree, the measures are being introduced “in order to protect the national security and national interests of the Russian Federation and ensure its financial stability.”
