Russia detains Azerbaijani citizen who allegedly participated in execution of Artsakh civilian

Azerbaijani citizen Kamil Zeynalli, who allegedly participated in the execution of an elderly Armenian civilian in Artsakh during the 2020 war, was detained in Moscow at the request of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Armenia, the Azerbaijani media report.
Zeynalli said in social media that Armenia declared him internationally wanted back in May last year, and tomorrow he will appear before the Russian court.
According to Zeynalli, police officers said he could be handed over to Armenia.
The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said the issue is under the control of the country’s embassy in Russia and that “Zeynalli is being provided with proper consular and legal assistance.”
The Prosecutor General’s Office of Armenia noted that they have no official information about the detention of an Azerbaijani citizen in Russia.
