Russia expects Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to attend the anniversary meeting of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) in Moscow in May, Russian Ambassador to Armenia Sergey Kopyrkin told RIA Novosti.
“Let me remind you that this year the Republic of Armenia is chairing the Eurasian Economic Council. This also involves delegation exchanges and visits. The anniversary meeting of the Eurasian Economic Union is scheduled to be held in Moscow in May, and, of course, the Russian side expects the participation of Armenia’s leader, Chairman and Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan,” the ambassador said.
According to Kopyrkin, mutual visits at the highest levels are a common practice in interstate relations.
“Let me remind you that quite recently, a month ago, a regular meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation headed by the deputy prime ministers of our countries was held here in Yerevan. A fairly large number of senior officials from both Russia and Armenia took part in it. It was a very important and significant event in our bilateral relations. Of course, the decisions that have been made—important decisions—will be implemented and will require contacts and visits,” Kopyrkin said.
He added that there are a number of invitations for Armenia to attend the significant events scheduled for 2024.
“I will not list everything now; we are working on this. Of course, such exchanges, including high-level visits, are on the agenda,” the ambassador said.
