Russia hopes Armenia will resume its full participation in CSTO

Russia hopes that Armenia will resume its full participation in the CSTO, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said in a press briefing on Wednesday.

According to her, Yerevan remains a de jure member of the CSTO, but in fact the Armenian authorities are moving away from this cooperation, contradicting the interests of the Armenian people.

“We expect that for the benefit of the future security of Armenia and the entire region, our partnership with Armenia within the CSTO will be fully resumed,” the diplomat stressed, adding that “playing around may not lead to good, especially considering that the region is already going through many challenges.”
