Russia considers it Armenia’s prerogative to change its current ambassador, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin said on Friday.

Earlier, the speaker of the Armenian parliament said Armenia plans to change its ambassador to Russia but did not specify the name of the candidate for the respective post.

“It is the prerogative of the sending country to determine the candidacy of the ambassador to another country. In this case, we are talking about the Armenian leadership’s intention to change the ambassador to Russia. There are procedures for resolving such issues, they will be implemented, as I understand,” he told reporters.

Galuzin noted that Russia is satisfied with the work of Harutyunyan, who made a significant contribution to the development of bilateral relations.

“I have always been deeply satisfied with our joint work on the development and expansion of Russian-Armenian relations, alliance and strategic partnership,” he said.
