Russia needs sanctions to be lifted — Hayk Ter-Nersisyan
Russia has had some success on the Ukrainian front, but it also needs sanctions to be lifted, political scientist Hayk Ter-Nersisyan told Alpha News, referring to the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.
“In international relations, ‘ditching’ is a tool and part of the classic, everyday style of work. Players who are weak and cannot strike back are being ditched. You will not be ‘ditched’ if you have enough potential and can respond. In other words, the main component of international relations is strength. Now Russia has had some success on the Ukrainian front, but it also needs sanctions to be lifted. Russia needs American and Western markets. Here we are talking about financial relations, the sale and purchase of bonds, and multibillion-dollar transactions that Russia needs,” Ter-Nersisyan said.
According to the political scientist, the longer the Russian-Ukrainian conflict continues, the more Russia will depend on China.
“If the situation continues in the same way, Russia will be more dependent on China. When a country is hugely dependent on another country, the interests of that country are sacrificed to the interests of another one. That is, if the interests of these two countries do not coincide, the country that is dependent will suffer.
When it comes to the relations between the United States and China, it should be noted that economic competition is the first stage of military strengthening. When the United States says that China is an economic opponent, it also means the security system. At the moment, Trump’s goal is for the US to try to curb China’s growth,” Ter-Nersisyan concluded.
