Russia will help to establish peaceful life in Artsakh, Russian Foreign Minister says
Russian peacekeepers will do everything possible to contribute to peaceful life in Artsakh, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said during the 78th UN General Assembly.
“Now that the leaders of Yerevan and Baku have settled the issue of mutual recognition of the sovereignty of the two countries, the time has come for peaceful life. The Russian peacekeeping forces will contribute to this in every possible way,” Lavrov said.
He spoke about the number of peacekeepers in Artsakh.
According to Lavrov, the number of Russian peacekeepers in Artsakh is determined based on the situation on the ground. They help to establish a dialogue between Artsakh and Baku.
“Our peacekeepers are helping to establish contacts between Karabakh representatives and Azerbaijani officials. The role of our peacekeepers is important for building confidence so that the Karabakh people feel safe there,” he said.
