Russian and French air defense systems are incompatible, military expert says

Russian military expert Konstantin Sivkov commented to Alpha News on Yerevan’s purchases of weapons from other countries and France’s intention to audit Armenia’s air defense.

The expert noted that diplomatically, no one has ever forced anyone to purchase weapons from only one country.

“Unfortunately, the Armenian policy is currently aimed at discrediting the CSTO and causing Armenia to leave the CSTO. This policy is pursued by Mr. Pashinyan and his team. Diplomatically, no one has ever forced anyone to purchase weapons from just one country,” Sivkov said.

Commenting on the compatibility of French and Russian air defense systems on the territory of Armenia, the expert emphasized that these air defense systems are different.

“This will not increase the effectiveness of the Armenian air defense. I would say that they [French and Russian air defense systems] are not compatible; they will not work together,” Sivkov said.

According to the military expert, if Armenia allows France to audit its defense, it will be an unfriendly step towards Russia.

“Audit of Armenian air defense means an audit of Russian air defense systems by the French. If Armenia does this, it will be an unfriendly step since, in this case, France will have access to information about the Russian air defense. Armenian air defense is armed with Russian air defense systems,” Sivkov concluded.
