Russian and Iranian Foreign Ministers discuss current situation in South Caucasus

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian discussed the current situation in the South Caucasus during a phone conversation, the press service of the Russian Foreign Ministry reported.

“The ministers expressed support for the early resumption of joint work within the framework of the Consultative Regional Platform ‘3+3’ on the South Caucasus,” the ministry said in a statement.

The parties also exchanged views on the current Middle East agenda with a focus on the escalation of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

They emphasized the importance of an early cessation of hostilities and resolution of the situation on a recognized international legal basis.

In addition, the ministers discussed several issues of bilateral cooperation.
