Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko called the EU statements about Armenia’s need to join NATO “big fantasies”.

“These are big fantasies,” he told TASS, “Armenia is a CSTO member, and we continue to be realistic.”

Grushko emphasized that Moscow and Yerevan “will continue to strengthen military and political cooperation”. “This is our ally and we rely on each other in terms of security. And I am sure that this factor will be decisive in our bilateral relations for many years,” he said.

Earlier, the chair of European Committee for NATO Enlargement Gunther Fehlinger stated that Armenia should join the North Atlantic Alliance. On the same day, Armenia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Vahan Kostanyan announced that the country cooperates with NATO in various formats and is ready to continue this process.
