On November 2, the Lenfilm film studio will host a screening of ‘Colorful Pebbles’, the first stereophonic film in Russia, directed by Soviet film director Sergey Mikaelyan, for his 100th anniversary.

This is the first and only stereophonic film in Russia about the Great Patriotic War.

“The lack of awareness among film critics and the public about the first and only stereo film showing the war is a tragedy. Mikaelyan, as a front-line soldier, truthfully and brilliantly showed both the horror and the beauty of war,” said film critic Nikolay Mayorov.

The film was shot in 1960. It is based on the short story ‘Colorful Pebbles’ by Sergei Antonov. The film features the music of composer Karen Khachaturyan and conductor Emin Khachaturyan.
