The Armenian Chargé d’Affaires was summoned to the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Spokesperson Maria Zakharova said at a press briefing on Thursday.

According to Zakharova, the odious publications about the Russian leadership, diplomats, and Russian peacekeepers—who risk and sacrifice their lives for the safety of the Armenian people—were brought to the attention of the Armenian Chargé d’Affaires.

She added that the unacceptability of the ongoing unbridled anti-Russian campaign in the mass media of the country, including public TV, state-controlled media and Telegram channels, was pointed out to the Armenian diplomat.

Zakharova did not comment on the refusal to provide agrément for the post of Armenian Ambassador to Russia to the member of the Civil Contract Party, Gurgen Arsenyan.

“This is a purely domestic diplomatic tactic. It is not brought out and is not discussed, neither on this particular occasion nor on any other, for one reason. Agrément is prior consent that is given or not given by the party. This is all decided exclusively between the two sides in a confidential manner, each time for each candidate, and is not commented on in the media,” Zakharova said.
