Russian politician says tension between Yerevan and Baku complicates unblocking communications

“The negotiations of the tripartite working group on the unblocking of transport and communications in the South Caucasus are underway, however the escalation between Armenia and Azerbaijan negatively affects the process,” Russian Deputy Prime Minister for Eurasian integration Alexey Overchuk told journalists at the Eastern Economic Forum.

“Any escalation always has a negative impact on our work. It slows down the process. Time passes before we come back, sit down and start working again,” Overchuk said.

He added that trilateral negotiations on transport communication between Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan are still underway.
