Samvel Karapetyan had undiagnosed bilateral pneumonia in detention – Aram Vardevanyan

Businessman and philanthropist Samvel Karapetyan developed bilateral pneumonia while being held at the Yerevan-Kentron penitentiary, but it was not diagnosed, Aram Vardevanyan, a member of Karapetyan’s defense team, announced today at a press conference.

“While under house arrest, Samvel Karapetyan visited a medical facility and underwent a comprehensive examination, something he had not had for about seven months. It was revealed that he had bilateral pneumonia in a residual stage, diagnosed as having occurred two months earlier. In other words, he had bilateral pneumonia while in detention, and it went unrecorded. Can you imagine the conditions?” Vardevanyan said.

According to him, Karapetyan himself did not file any complaints regarding this situation, but his defense team submitted the relevant written statements. The responsible officials replied in writing that they had examined him but found no health problems.
