Sarkis Balkhian: ANCA is totally disappointed with Biden adminisration, especially after what happened in Artsakh
The ANCA-Western Region worked in two directions before the primary elections, social and political activist Sarkis Balkhian told Alpha News.
According to Balkhian, the first direction is the civil program, which has been functioning for about 10 years.
“As part of this program, we encourage our compatriots, the Western Armenian community, to go and participate in the elections, because the more Armenians participate in the elections, the stronger the Armenian lobby will be. We urge our compatriots to participate in the local elections. The office of the ANCA, especially in California, where the Armenian community consists of almost one million people, endorsed voting for several candidates. We support those candidates and encourage our compatriots to vote for them. Unfortunately, there are no Armenian candidates in other states, but there are many candidates in California.
In addition to Armenian candidates, we also endorse foreign candidates who stand by Armenians. For example, the ANCA-Western Region endorsed Adam Schiff in the Senate elections. He has stood by the Armenian community for tens of years and tried to help with Armenian issues,” Balkhian said.
Speaking about the policy of the Biden administration, he emphasized that the ANCA is totally disappointed.
“The ANCA is totally disappointed with the policy of the Biden administration, especially after what happened in Artsakh. The genocide took place in Artsakh, but his administration ruled out the fact of ethnic cleansing. As we saw, after being under blockade for months, Artsakh Armenians were eventually forced to leave, and the Biden administration did not take any significant steps to prevent all of that; it did not even impose sanctions against Azerbaijan. The ANCA has always expected the ruling administrations to pursue a pro-Armenian policy and be on the side of the Armenians. Unfortunately, we did not see that,” he emphasized.
