The Center for Higher Studies of Ilia State University of Georgia organized a scientific conference dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the world-famous Armenian film director Sergei Parajanov.

“Crossing borders and red lines is the very essence of Sergei Parajanov’s life and work. He himself was at the junction of different identities and affiliations: an ethnic Armenian, born in Tbilisi, who shot his first major film based on Ukrainian folklore in Ukraine. One of his other three important feature films is dedicated to the Armenian poet from Tbilisi, Sayat Nova. The second film is a unique adaptation of a Georgian folktale, and the third one is a reinterpretation of a Turkish legend,” the university said in a press release.

The event will be held from January 16 to 18.
