Security at Akhurik checkpoint handled by Armenian border guards

Since the beginning of 2026, security at the Akhurik border checkpoint on the Armenia–Turkey state border has been handled solely by servicemen of Armenia’s National Security Service Border Troops, the government reported.

It should be noted that since March 1, 2025, the Margara border checkpoint on the Armenia–Turkey state border has also been staffed exclusively by servicemen of Armenia’s National Security Service Border Troops.
