Sedrak Palyan: Terrorists attacked the Cows’ Garden, civilians were injured

On December 28, a group of terrorists, about 30 people in black clothes and masks, armed with sticks, tear gas grenades, and some other means, attacked the Armenians in the “Cows’ Garden” of the Armenian Quarter of the Old City of Jerusalem in order to harm them, make them leave the area, and intimidate them, Israelahayer.com reported.
Sedrak Palyan, founder of “Save the ArQ”, commented on this topic in an interview with Alpha News.
“They attacked civilians, priests and the bishop, but we managed to drive them out of our territory. We called the police, but, being only 50 meters away from us, they arrived only after 20 minutes. The terrorists threw stones at our clergy, who were standing right in front of the police, but the police did not take any steps. Later, six terrorists and two young Armenians were detained. However, this is not the first time. We have been attacked more than once, but instead of detaining them, the police arrested our youth,” Palyan said.
He emphasized that the Armenian community gathered and prevented all invasion attempts.
“Fortunately, the injuries were not very serious. Many people’s eyes were damaged by tear grenades, but they are not in bad condition. Cars were also damaged. Despite all this, we all gathered around the church and prevented any invasion attempts. A lawsuit has already been initiated and we are waiting for an explanation. The entire Armenian community is here. We are preparing to protect ourselves and prevent new attacks,” he concluded.
The Armenian Patriarchate recently canceled the “Cows’ Garden” deal. Instead of providing a legal response to the cancellation, the developers attempted to begin construction on the “Cows’ Garden” property. They completely ignored the legitimate position of the Patriarchate on this issue, choosing provocations instead.
