Early elections for the City Council are scheduled to take place on March 30 in the communities of Parakar in the Armavir region and Gyumri in the Shirak region. The election campaign started on March 15.
Alpha News spoke with independent expert Artak Avetisyan on this topic. He shared his thoughts on Nikol Pashinyan’s recent visit to Gyumri.
“Pashinyan came to Gyumri and left within a day. I don’t believe his visit made any difference. He came to make an appearance, but the sentiments in real Gyumri are entirely different, and his visit has not changed anything,” the independent expert said.
According to Avetisyan, the Civil Contract Party is not doing anything new ahead of the elections.
“During the election campaign, there are mandatory things: sending ministers and representatives of departments. They come, they talk, they eat, then they return to Yerevan, report to their leader, saying ‘I brought 1,200 votes.’ In terms of content, this is a repetition of the same mistakes, following the same logic, the same political and strategic processes that we have seen before. The Civil Contract Party has not come up with anything new. They’re repeating what their predecessors did,” he said.
