By decision of the National Assembly of the Republic of Artsakh, September 19 has been declared the Day of Forced Displacement and Demands. The corresponding amendment has been made to the Republic of Artsakh’s Law “On Holidays and Memorial Days.”
Two years ago, on September 19, 2023, Azerbaijan launched a large-scale operation aimed at the displacement or elimination of the entire Armenian population of Artsakh. Faced with the threat of genocide, the people of Artsakh were forced to abandon their homes. As a result of Azerbaijan’s occupation of Artsakh territories during the 44-day war in 2020 and the aggression in 2023, approximately 150,000 indigenous residents left Artsakh.
