Sergey Markelov: What is happening to Artsakh now is Genocide
In a live broadcast of Alpha Newsroom, Russian political expert Sergey Markelov said that Ilham Aliyev’s team does not want to end this conflict in principle, because Baku has not solved its internal problems yet, and Azerbaijan itself is a fairly poor country with a low standard of living.
“Maybe I will surprise you, I will express my opinion and let our viewers judge it, many experts watching the Karabakh conflict have the impression that Ilham Aliyev’s team does not want to end this conflict in principle.
You will wonder why he does not want it to end? Why is it like this? The thing is that when the leadership of a country wants to end a conflict, it constantly stimulates negotiation processes and softens regimes of mutual conflict.
That is, if they do not put forward such solutions, it will lead to tensions, and then military clashes. Let us call a spade a spade. What is happening to Artsakh now is a violation of living conditions, transportation, movement, medical care, all this has a historical political term – genocide. Of course, we can talk about the wording or the content, but this is a real demonstration of the power of one nation over another, and this is quite obvious.
We only heard some conversations rather than an actual plan of Azerbaijan. And this is called political demagogy, which is another tool that shows that there is no plan, because any plan today will go against the word “fairness”. Aliyev’s team knows that this is an unfair conflict from the point of view of the Armenian people and therefore Azerbaijan will continue its policy as long as it can”, the political expert stressed.
