Shutdown of Russian channels will lead towards Ukrainization of Armenia – Oleg Matveychev
Speaking with Alpha News, Deputy Chair of Russia’s State Duma Committee on Information Policy, Information Technology and Communications Oleg Matveychev commented on the Armenian authorities’ plans to shut down Russian TV channels in the country.
“If Armenia shuts down Russian channels, it will be another step towards the Ukrainization of Armenia. Unfortunately, the ruling elite is leading Armenia along the path of unsuccessful countries rather than the path of national interests. All these revolutions always end badly. We can recall the example of Georgia, they lost South Ossetia and Abkhazia, and the situation is still unstable there. But Georgians have drawn conclusions and are now ending this foreign interference.
We have seen the example of Moldova. We see what happened to Ukraine when pro-American politicians came to power. Armenia could learn. If Pashinyan had not come to power, nothing would have happened to Karabakh. And now they continue to stubbornly move along this path, they probably want to lose some more, they continue to rely on the bankrupt Western elite,” Matveychev said.
According to him, “the West is a sinking Titanic” into which the Armenian elite are dragging its people.
“The West is drowning, and this is obvious to the whole world. Even England left the European Union because it does not want to die with it. We see what problems there are in America; we see how power is crumbling in France and in Germany. This is a sinking Titanic. We must avoid it like the plague, but the Armenian elite, on the contrary, are dragging the Armenian people onto this Titanic to drown them, so to speak, along with themselves.
Of course, I hope for the wisdom of the Armenian people, and all Russians are waiting for the Armenian people to get rid of this foreign concept represented by these Soros sectarians. This should happen as soon as possible for the Armenian people to avoid any other losses,” Matveychev concluded.
