A solo performance was staged in Moscow, Russia, as part of events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of legendary film director, screenwriter, and artist Sergei Parajanov.
The event was organized by the Sergei Parajanov Moscow Art Theater. The play was performed by actress Louisa Gabbe.
Speaking with Armenpress, Gabbe noted that the solo performance tells about Parajanov’s life and the history of the creation of the theater named after him.
“It is a great honor and responsibility for me to speak to art lovers in this format on the occasion of the master’s 100th anniversary. It is also a kind of expression of our gratitude,” the actress said, calling the performance not a play, but a life.
She said that she wishes to show the performance to the Armenian audience as well.
Artistic director and founder of the theater, Vladimir Gabbe, said that the performance marked the beginning of the events dedicated to Parajanov’s anniversary. The series of events will conclude in October with the festival.
“Today we are united by a system of high values inherited from the great filmmaker, and if we succeeded in getting closer to this system of values, we succeeded in sharing it as well. No wonder Sergei Parajanov’s anniversary has been included in UNESCO’s calendar. That is why we have to appreciate, cherish, and be proud of the free art of the great Armenian,” Gabbe concluded.
