State does nothing for development of Armenian football — Robert Gasparyan

The Armenian national football team suffered a heavy 0-3 home defeat to Georgia in the first leg of the UEFA Nations League play-off round. The return match is scheduled to take place in Tbilisi on March 23.
Alpha News talked about this with sports journalist Robert Gasparyan.
“I believe that criticism of the head coach of the Armenian national team is inappropriate, as he is still getting to know Armenian football. This is not his defeat at all. In terms of the game, our team showed rather toothless football. We did not have leaders. Eduard Spertsyan and Lukas Zelarayan were injured, and the coach changed the scheme, with which we clearly lost to the opponent. Tiknizyan did not perform very well, the game in the center failed altogether. Even an excuse for the good play of the opponent cannot save the Armenian team from criticism, let’s call a spade a spade. Today, the Armenian team is not ready to advance to Division B,” he said.
According to Gasparyan, the state does not contribute to the development of Armenian football.
“The Football Federation of Armenia contributes a mere 0.5% to the development of Armenian football. The involvement of the state in the development of football should be paramount, but neither the state nor the Football Federation of Armenia does anything for the development of Armenian football,” Gasparyan noted with regret.
