Teacher Ofelia Mkrtchyan injured in shooting as she courageously shielded children at Bryansk school

The biology teacher of the Bryansk school in Russia, 26-year-old Ofelia Mkrtchyan, was conducting a lesson when one of the schoolgirls opened fire with her father’s rifle that she brought with her.

According to the students, Ofelia Mkrtchyan “shielded the children, which is why she was injured.”

Eyewitnesses also said that if not for Ofelia, there could have been significantly more victims.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, a 14-year-old girl opened fire from her father’s rifle, after which she committed suicide. Her motives are being investigated.

As a result of the incident, five students were injured. One of the schoolgirls subsequently died.
