The clergy of the city of Almelo in the Netherlands refused to meet with Sinanyan – Masis Abrahamyan

From February 17 to 20, High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs Zareh Sinanyan was on a working visit to the Netherlands. Representatives of the Armenian organizations in the Netherlands, Homenetmen, the Armenian Relief Society and its subordinate structures refused to meet with him.

Alpha News spoke about this topic with the head of ARF Dutch Armenian Affairs Office, Masis Abrahamyan.

“We follow the general line of the party, which rejects meetings with representatives of the current Armenian authorities. We have our own assessment and point of view on these authorities, and the Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs is also part of this government. We believe that this government has betrayed the national interests of the Armenian people with its activities, which is why we refuse to meet with them.

At their meetings, they always make false and incorrect statements that there is no point in refuting. We urged everyone not to meet with him. We told everyone that the representatives of this government do not play any national role, but nevertheless, there were people with whom the meeting took place,” Abrahamyan said.

According to him, only representatives of the church administration met with Sinanyan in Almelo.

“The meetings took place in Almelo and The Hague, but the clergy of Almelo refused to attend the meeting, only the representatives of the church administration met with him. Some critical questions were raised regarding the statement on the denial of the Genocide, Mount Masis and persona non grata. As far as I know, he gave evasive answers, especially around the issue of the Genocide. During the visit, Sinanyan also visited the monument commemorating the Armenian Genocide. And here the question arises: what kind of hypocrite do you have to be to, on the one hand, question the Armenian Genocide, and on the other hand, go to the monument and pay tribute?” Abrahamyan concluded.
