Declared undesirable in Armenia, Areni Markosyan told the details about her activities in an interview with Alpha News. A 28-year-old woman, born and raised in Washington, is currently based there. Her parents are from Lebanon. Areni is a member of the Washington branch of the Dashnaktsutyun Youth Association. Over the past three years, in particular, the representative of the Armenian diaspora has not missed any protests organized near Armenian and Azerbaijani embassies in the USA, indignantly raising her voice against Nikol Pashinyan’s policies.
“I have never thought that one day I will not be able to return to my homeland. I have been to Armenia twice. This should have been my third visit. I was supposed to go to Turkiye later and climb up Mount Ararat. It was my dream. If Pashinyan was in front of me, I would have told him: Pashinyan, the life of traitors has always been short, but the homeland is for eternity”, Areni said.
Areni has never been given an explanation as to why she cannot visit Armenia, however, she assumes that the reason is her participation in rallies organized against Nikol Pashinyan and sharp comments on his policies in the interview with the Armenian Weekly. She regrets that she has not had an opportunity to visit Artsakh, however, she grew up loving it.
“What is happening with Artsakh is painful. There is no Armenia without Artsakh. I have no idea why our government can’t understand this. We should fight for Artsakh until out last breath and we should not let this government facilitate Azerbaijani actions”, Areni Markosyan stressed.
Areni emphasized that Armenia does not belong to Azerbaijani, Turkish or other Armenian traitors. It belongs to Armenians only. It should be mentioned that, on August 2, the U.S. Citizen Areni Markosyan arrived from Lebanon to Armenia was banned to entry the country. Over the past year, she is the sixth Armenian from diaspora whose entry is prohibited.
This year, on July 20, the Dutch citizen Aslan Aslanyan was banned to entry the country according the same scenario without any explanation. He was coming to Armenia with his family and friends of his children to spend holidays. On July 13, 2022, according to the same scenario, Murad Papazyan, the French-Armenian public figure and the co-chair of CCAF France, was also prohibited to entry Armenia. Later, the Dutch citizens Syune and Masis Abrahamyan were declared undesirable. Father and daughter were supposed to participate in volunteer camps initiated by ARF Youth Office. On January 2023, the entry of Nzhdeh Garagavoryan, the chairman of the “New Generation” youth association in France, was banned as well. Nzhdeh expressed confidence that the increased pressure on the Azerbaijani Embassy in France was not favoured by the Armenian government. To learn more, click on the video.
