‘There are people dying of hunger, but he doesn’t raise pensions’ – pensioner

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s recent controversial remarks about pensioners have become a central topic of discussion among the elderly. According to the country’s leader, pensioners do not know how to spend their money effectively.
Pashinyan said, “If we increase pensions by 11,000 drams or 10,400 drams per month, what will the pensioner do? What will they do with that money, how will they spend it?”
Responding to Pashinyan’s words, a resident of Shirak region said, “There are people dying of hunger, but he doesn’t raise pensions, even though he had promised to do so.”
Citizens note that although 10,000 drams is not a large sum, it could at least allow them to buy medicine.
“What Nikol said is absurd, like all of his statements. And 10,000 drams is nothing compared to the 1.5 million drams salary of members of parliament,” another resident said.
