‘There have been no twists and turns from our side’: Zakharova on Armenia-Russia allied relations

Russia has always been committed to the allied level of relations with Armenia, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said in a press briefing when asked about the chances for thawing relations between the two countries.

“It has been historically a two-way street. On this very street, there have never been twists and turns from our side. You should ask official Yerevan about the rest,” Zakharova said.

Zakharova refuted the assumption that Russia was preparing to withdraw all border guards from Armenia’s borders.

“During the talks, the leaders of Armenia and Russia discussed the withdrawal of Russian border guards from some areas at the request of the Armenian side,” she stressed.
