There is no such legal document based on which Armenia receives something in exchange for the ceded territories, says political scientist
This government is trying to break the people’s resistance and achieve its own goals, political scientist Ara Poghosyan told Alpha News.
Referring to the statement of the Kirants residents that the government gave a 60% guarantee that no house from their village would end up on the territory of Azerbaijan, the political scientist noted:
“We have heard 60% or different numbers from Pashinyan many times. Moreover, during his recent visit to Tavush, he even stated that there is no guarantee that there will be no war after the cession. He tells it to the people who are trying to protect their rights, trying to fight for their ancestral homes. The authorities are trying to simply put these people to sleep, break the people’s resistance, and achieve the goals they have set for themselves at this stage. And at this stage, it makes no sense to talk about the goals of the Armenian authorities. We should talk about the goals of Azerbaijan, to whom the Armenian authorities are trying to serve.”
Ara Poghosyan also commented on the changes in the Constitution and the four villages of Tavush, about which Pashinyan and Aliyev spoke at the same time.
“Obviously, Baku’s demands are presented in Armenia as the position of the Armenian authorities, with a difference of a few days or weeks. We remember the Constitution, four villages, enclaves, and other topics. Some territories of the Republic of Armenia have already been ceded.
But there is no such legal document based on which Armenia receives something in exchange for the ceded territories. There is simply no such document. We also know that receiving concessions does not prevent the authorities of Azerbaijan, in particular President Aliyev, from saying that he did not sign any document and has no intention of returning territories to Armenia or recognizing the territorial integrity of Armenia,” Ara Poghosyan concluded.
