‘This decision degrades Armenia’: Franz Klintsevich on Armenia-France military cooperation

Russian military expert and ex-senator of the Federation Council of Russia, Franz Klintsevich, commented to Alpha News on the military-technical cooperation between Armenia and France.
“Such a decision extremely degrades the state of Armenia in terms of its subjectivity and independence because it negatively affects relations with Russia. The presence of 4 border detachments and 2 military bases in Armenia—what is facing Pashinyan today, who was appointed to his position to wipe out Russia’s presence on the territory of Armenia—will lead to a complete loss of state sovereignty and, possibly, the Republic of Armenia itself. All this will end extremely badly for Armenia. Its only salvation in these conditions is reasonable cooperation with Russia. But the constant degradation of these relations will cause serious trouble for the Armenian people,” the expert said.
The ex-senator notes that the key to the security of Armenia is cooperation with Russia. And the inclination towards the West is nothing more than a provocation.
“This is a new trend in the relationship with Russia which will lead to serious troubles. Armenia will not ensure its security. It has neither the financial nor human resources to resist the enemy on its own under these conditions. France and the United States are very far away. And many other countries are nearby. There are many instigators there who work with these countries. Their task today is to discredit the relationship between Russia and Armenia and completely deteriorate it—the key task of the intelligence services that work in this direction.
France is like a gasket. Other people work there. And the one who knows how to read sees and understands it. Pashinyan will not be there tomorrow. He will secure his future with his decisions. And the role and further problems of the Armenian people will no longer be his problem,” Klintsevich concluded.
