‘This is a concession to those who advocate severing allied relations with Russia’: Russian Embassy on situation with Sputnik Armenia

The Russian Embassy in Armenia commented on the decision of the Armenian Television and Radio Commission to suspend broadcasting of Sputnik Armenia radio station.

“We regret that the decision of the republican regulator will affect the unconditional right of the Armenian listeners to receive information from a source of their choice,” the embassy said in a statement.

The embassy also noted that “the decision to suspend the broadcasting of the Russian media branch in friendly Armenia was made just a week after the constructive talks between the Russian Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media and the Armenian Ministry of High-Tech Industry, during which the sides agreed on close cooperation in resolving all controversial issues.”

“This step cannot but look like a concession to those who are advocating the severance of traditional, mutually beneficial and mutually respectful allied relations between Russia and Armenia,” the embassy added.
