This is not a peace treaty but a death certificate for the Republic of Armenia, political commentator Arman Abovyan told Alpha News.

“I regret to say this, but we often use unacceptable verbal contexts. In other words, this is not a peace treaty. Call it whatever you want, but this is not a peace treaty. For example, I call it a death certificate on how Armenia should be dismantled,” Arman Abovyan said.

According to the political analyst, the main goal of the current Armenian authorities is to remain in power.

“The desire of the Turkish-Azerbaijani duo to pave a road or a route through Syunik outside Armenia’s control is a paradoxical situation. I assure you that the Armenian authorities have not decided anything in this matter since the very beginning, since they have exchanged their right to decide for foreign support. That is, they told external players to do as they wish, do what they need, ‘the main thing is to support us so that we remain in power’. This is not just an empty statement, this is the reality,” he noted.

Arman Abovyan also touched upon the so-called “Zangezur corridor”.

“When was the last time you heard the Armenian authorities say that, for example, the so-called ‘Zangezur corridor’ is unacceptable for Armenia? They have never made such a statement. This is the only sovereign decision of the current authorities regarding the unblocking of communications in Syunik,” Arman Abovyan said.

The political scientist is sure that Israel, Turkey and the West are behind Aliyev’s boastful statements.

“Baku never speaks only on its own behalf. In fact, it very well promotes both Israeli and Western interests, which intersect with Turkey’s interests. All of Aliyev’s boasting is based on a joint decision by Turkey and Azerbaijan, which derives from the West’s main goals,” Arman Abovyan concluded.
