This is the behavior of frightened authorities: Vardevanyan on the restriction of personal names in alliance titles

Aram Vardevanyan, lawyer for philanthropist and businessman Samvel Karapetyan, spoke to journalists about the amendments to the Electoral Code hastily initiated by Armenian authorities that introduce restrictions on bloc names, in particular, the use of personal names calling these actions a manifestation of primitive fear.

“The current head of the executive branch often talks about ‘tough guys.’ But do tough guys urgently amend the Electoral Code just days before a political filing deadline, solely to avoid having Samvel Karapetyan’s name mentioned?” Vardevanyan said with bewilderment.

In his view, polling data and sound logic both point to the same conclusion: this is simply how frightened authorities behave.
