‘This is the trial of the entire Armenian nation’: Artak Mkrtchyan on trial of 16 Armenian POWs in Baku

 
The trial of 16 Armenian POWs in Baku is the trial of the entire Armenian nation, Artak Mkrtchyan, Chair of the Equal Opportunity NGO, told Alpha News.

“We have discussed holding a protest with various NGOs. Demanding the release of our Armenian prisoners should be our daily process. We are protesting now because a sham, fabricated trial of 16 Armenian captives begins in Baku today, and this is not only their trial, but also the trial of the entire Armenian nation. This is a mockery of the Armenian people by the Aliyev regime. That is why we initiated the protest on this very day.

The protest is held not only in support of the Armenian prisoners of war but also for hundreds of our missing soldiers, whose fates are still unknown. We must consistently demand that the Armenian authorities be active in international institutions and that our Armenian prisoners of war return to their homeland as soon as possible and that the issue of the missing persons is finally addressed,” Artak Mkrtchyan said.

Earlier, protesters gathered outside the UN office in Yerevan, demanding the release of Armenian POWs. After the protest, they will march to the Armenian Foreign Ministry building.
