‘This is the true spirit of Russian-Armenian relations’: Zakharova on visit of Armenian delegation to Donetsk People’s Republic

Moscow welcomes the visit of the delegation of the Yerevan City Council to the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said in a press briefing on the sidelines of the 4th Eurasian Women’s Forum.

“You know, we not only welcome the visit of the Yerevan City Council’s delegation to the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, which took place the other day, but also believe that this is a very important contribution to the real cause of peace, to the cause of real respect for human rights, not imaginary, but real rights.

We are convinced that the meeting of the Armenian delegation with the leaders and broad public circles of the new Russian regions allowed them to form their own impression of the events of the Ukrainian crisis. This is especially important as, unfortunately, Armenian politicians and officials increase their contacts with the Kiev regime,” she said.

The delegation headed by the leader of the Mother Armenia bloc, Andranik Tevanyan, arrived in the Donetsk People’s Republic on September 16 on a humanitarian visit; later, the delegation visited the Lugansk People’s Republic.
