A resolution was recently introduced in the French Parliament demanding that Azerbaijan immediately release the captured military-political leadership of Artsakh and other prisoners, journalist Liana Margaryan told Alpha News.
“The resolution continues France’s consistent stance on the Artsakh issue. It is not only a humanitarian demand but also carries clear political messages. The resolution emphasizes that Artsakh’s military and political figures are being held unlawfully and for politically motivated reasons by Azerbaijan, and that the trials against them are considered sham proceedings that fail to meet international standards,” Liana Margaryan said.
She noted that members of parliament are urging the French government and EU institutions to apply diplomatic pressure on Azerbaijan.
According to Margaryan, this initiative highlights France’s commitment to the Armenian cause and confirms that the Artsakh issue remains not only a humanitarian concern but also a matter of geopolitical importance.
