Many people say that there is no fight for Artsakh today, but we are still fighting, Metaxe Hakobyan, Artsakh MP and Chair of the Justice and Return NGO, told Alpha News.
“Those who dare to say that Artsakh citizens did not fight, gave up everything in one day, and fled are immoral. The people of Artsakh fought for their dignity, but when it became clear that the Armenian authorities betrayed us, we had no other choice. With 120 thousand people, most of them women, old people, and children, it would be impossible to fight against such a formidable enemy and win. When the dead soldiers were being taken out of positions and trenches, all of them had no bullets left, they shot until the last bullet,” Metaxe Hakobyan said.
The MP assures that the fight for the sake of Artsakh continues today.
“Many people say that today there is no fight for Artsakh, but for us there is. We are in a constant fight; the fight is not with mass actions on the street, it requires serious political work. We are in a situation where these political processes have not been completed to move on to clearer actions. In terms of trust and partnership, it is obvious that there is no political force with which you can cooperate.
Our task is to be united so that no one thinks that the opposition is trying to take the lead to serve its own political interests. When we solve this problem, people will follow the opposition,” she noted.
According to Hakobyan, many people, having different political views, stood side by side since the beginning of the Sacred Movement.
“These authorities continue to succeed because we are divided. We must admit it. Now there is a fight because we have already overcome many things, and we are trying to have that dialogue, which has been evident since the beginning of the movement. We stood side by side despite having different political views, now we are trying to talk to each other so that we can implement political processes and come to common conclusions,” Metaxe Hakobyan said.
