Threats against Armenia voiced in Azerbaijani parliament again

Gudrat Hasanguliyev, a member of the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan and chairman of the Party of Justice, Rights and Democracy, in an interview with Teleqraf, said that Baku must conduct serious negotiations with Turkey, Russia, and the United States, without linking national interests to Armenia’s domestic policy.
According to him, if Yerevan does not make prompt decisions regarding the opening of the corridor, Azerbaijan may resort to a forceful option to “clear” the territory—referring to the Syunik region—and then hand it over to international control, either Russia or the United States, within the framework of the agreements of November 10, 2020, or August 8, 2025.
Hasanguliyev also noted that Armenia seeks to establish transport connections with its neighbors on terms favorable to itself. However, despite discussions about the route to Nakhichevan, no concrete actions have yet been taken.
“After the signing of the Washington declaration, there were hopes for the rapid start of road construction, but now it is becoming clear that the Armenian side has simply relaxed,” he added.
In addition, the MP stated that Azerbaijan may propose that Armenia sign a peace memorandum if it immediately begins construction of the road to Nakhichevan and, in the future, agrees to make corresponding amendments to its constitution.
