‘Tired, but very satisfied!’: Levon Aronian wins 2024 American Cup

Armenian chess player GM Levon Aronian won his maiden title at the 2024 American Cup in St. Louis on Wednesday, having defeated GM Wesley So 2.5-1.5 in the final rapid game. Aronian played with the black pieces.
“Very happy to win The American Cup 2024! Tired, but very satisfied! Thanks to everybody who cheered on!” he said on Facebook.
Aronian beat Armenian American Sam Sevian (4-2) in the quarterfinals, and in the semifinals, he won 4-2 over Italian American Fabiano Caruana.
Aronian won the Champion brackets after defeating American Ray Robson (2-0).
The Armenian chess player received $90,000 for the victory.
