Today in Gyumri, people are choosing not a program but a person — Artak Avetisyan

A political culture has not yet been formed in Armenia, independent expert Artak Avetisyan told Alpha News, commenting on the upcoming elections in Gyumri.
“Despite the fact that Gyumri residents always have something to praise, in reality they are also standard, average voters of Armenia. Before the elections, candidates make many promises, but in Armenia no one follows them. This political culture has not yet formed in Armenia. If we try to recall the leaders of many countries, we will not even remember their names. We will remember only those political figures who are known for their rhetoric,” he said.
He cited Trump and Biden as examples.
“We know about Trump and Biden, but we are not interested in what they want from America. We feel the same way about ourselves. What promises did Pashinyan make when he came to power? What did he promise, and what did he fail to fulfill? Apart from the opposition, which digs up everything and exposes him in the National Assembly, I have not encountered people in everyday conversations who are upset by this. People get upset about many things, but not about unfulfilled programs or broken promises,” he said.
