Tourist flow from Russia to Armenia increased by 33%

Co-chairs of the Russian-Armenian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation headed by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk and Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan met in Yerevan.
“Tourism is actively developing between Russia and Armenia. As of 2023, the tourist flow from Russia to Armenia increased by 33%, Russian tourists made more than 1 million trips to Armenia. Armenian tourists, in turn, made 366 thousand trips to Russia in 2023. The tourist flow from Armenia to Russia saw an increase by 34.6%. In the first six months of 2024, tourists’ departure from Russia to Armenia amounted to 425.7 thousand trips, entry from Armenia to Russia amounted to 159 thousand trips,” said Dmitry Volvach, Russian Deputy Minister of Economic Development.
Overchuk noted that the high level of bilateral cooperation has a favorable impact on the development of the entire Armenian economy.
“Armenia’s gross domestic product in 2023 increased by 8.7%, and for six months of this year, the GDP growth of the republic has reached 10.4%, which is three times higher than the global average. In addition, Armenia has seen a 25.7% growth in consumer activity, wholesale, and retail trade. The volume of construction has grown by 14.8%, industrial production has grown by 4%, and services have increased by 10%,” he said.
