The guarantee of stable and durable peace in the South Caucasus is the return to the implementation of the set of trilateral agreements at the highest level, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said in a press briefing on Wednesday.
When asked about Russia’s view of Armenia’s proposal to sign a non-aggression pact with Azerbaijan and to what extent the pact is tantamount to a peace treaty, she said:
“I believe we should ask the Azerbaijani side. If you are talking about our principled position, we are sure that the guarantee of stable and durable peace in the South Caucasus is the return to the implementation of a set of trilateral agreements at the highest level, which were concluded from 2020 to 2022.
This is a roadmap for reconciliation between Baku and Yerevan that has no other alternatives. It includes, among other things, the development of a peace treaty,” the Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson said.
