By attempting to humiliate the Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II, the authorities of Armenia have disgraced themselves before the Georgian people and the entire Christian world. This opinion was expressed by the Head of the Diocesan Council of the Russian and New Nakhichevan Diocese of the Holy Armenian Apostolic Church, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Aramais Kamalov.

“Deep down, many hoped that the Armenian authorities, guided by the ancient Christian values of the country, would not prevent the Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II from visiting Georgia during days of deep sorrow for the entire Georgian people to bid farewell to the Patriarch of All Georgia Ilia II.

The Christian brotherhood of the two Catholicoses has a long history. They were bound by faith, selfless service to God, a careful attitude toward Christian values and culture, and devotion to their peoples.

Despite the invitation from the Georgian Patriarchate, the Armenian authorities did not allow the Catholicos of All Armenians to travel to Georgia for the funeral. This causes indignation, offends the religious feelings of all Armenians, and evokes a sense of shame before the fraternal Georgian people. There are no words to express the outrage at the inhuman, anti-Christian actions of the authorities, who, in attempting to humiliate the Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II, have disgraced themselves before the Georgian people and the entire Christian world.
