Turkey is playing its own game on the sly – Viktor Baranets

Speaking with Alpha News, Russian military observer Viktor Baranets commented on the escalation of the situation in Syria and the role of Turkey and the United States in this process.

“To our great regret, these militants, bandits, and terrorists managed to capture Aleppo. The main reason here is that first, the Syrian intelligence did a very poor job, and second, they did not prepare the army to defend the largest city in Syria. Now the Syrian army has come to its senses and is preparing to liberate Aleppo, with active air and ground assistance from the Russian group. Of course, everyone is alarmed by the fact that militant units, and there are a huge number of them, more than 20 thousand, have moved to Hama.

The Syrian army has already come to its senses and is building defensive positions. Moreover, the Syrian defense ministry has announced preparations for a counteroffensive. And the third point is that I do not think that the Syrian army will remain alone. It is already completely clear that Iraq is on the side of the Syrian army. Certain and not very weak contingents have already been sent there. I believe that Iran will also play its role, and if a coalition is formed, it will be able to drive this ‘plague’ away and drive it back into this reservoir called Idlib, where they have been sitting for 4 years,” Baranets said.

According to Baranets, the main tone in the escalation in Syria is set by the United States, while Turkey is trying to fish in troubled waters.

“Turkey has its own interests. The main director here is the United States. They came to Syrian land, settled there as a camp, and are robbing Syrian oil. They are robbing and selling. The Security Council did not even give them permission. They are bandits, and they are interested in quickly bringing down the Assad regime. Turkey is playing its own game on the sly. Turks want Kurds to remain quiet and not play against Turkey. And Erdogan will now tear out a piece of Syrian territory.

Turkey does not need to bring down Assad. It needs land and natural resources in this region. And the US needs all of Syria. They need to turn the head of Syria into Saddam Hussein, hang him, as we have already seen and know. Of course, defeat the Syrian army and force Assad to give in,” he emphasized.

According to Baranets, Russia and its allies in Syria have already developed an action plan to counter armed terrorists.

“We have already thought out our plan; conversations have already taken place. Putin not only talked with Erdogan but also with our Iranian and Iraqi, I dare say, allies. Now a plan for a joint coalition response to these mobsters is being developed,” he concluded.
