According to Alpha News, the two minors who got lost and ended up in the territory of Azerbaijan in the area adjacent to Aravus village of the Syunik region, are from Aravus. They were searching for cattle when they found themselves in Azerbaijani territory.

Earlier, the National Security Service reported that Karen Jhangiryan (born June 27, 2007) and Andrey Gyagunts (born January 13, 2008), residents of the Tegh community of the Syunik region, ended up in the territory of Azerbaijan on June 6, 2025, at around 01:20 am, in the area adjacent to Aravus village of the Syunik region, as a result of getting lost in the terrain.
