Ukrainian winemakers cannot withstand competition with Western brands, and the authorities should reduce excise duties on it to the European level (the excise duty in Ukraine is 12.23 hryvnia, about $0.3), said Volodymyr Kucherenko, General Director of Ukrvinprom. He also demanded to impose sanctions against Armenian and Georgian producers.

“We have been asking for a year already to impose sanctions against wine and brandy producers from Georgia and Armenia, whose products are supplied to Russia. Despite promises, these goods continue to be sold in our country,” he said.
