UN Secretary-General expresses concern over latest escalation in Artsakh 

UN Secretary-General António Guterres held separate meetings with the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan, Ararat Mirzoyan and Jeyhun Bayramov. He expressed his concern about the latest escalation of the situation in Artsakh and called for strict observance of the ceasefire.

“The Secretary-General expressed concern regarding the recent military escalation in the region and stressed the importance of strict observance of the ceasefire,” the Secretary-General’s office said in a statement following Guterres’ meeting with Jeyhun Bayramov.

At the meeting with Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, the Secretary-General underlined the United Nations’ support to all mediation efforts to reach long-standing peace in the region.
