Armenia has been turned into a geopolitical tool by the current authorities, leading the country toward a destructive outcome, political scientist Alen Ghevondyan said in an interview with Alpha News.

According to him, the developments in the country are not accidental but the result of a deliberate policy: “Under the current authorities, Armenia is in a continuous process of dissolution or concession, just to satisfy external curators and secure their support during elections.”

Addressing tensions around Iran and regional developments, Ghevondyan noted that Armenia is deprived of sovereignty and is simply being used by major players.

“We are becoming a tool in the competition of one power bloc against another. As a result, we will suffer the worst-case scenario. Iran is our neighbor, and we will directly feel the impact of any clash,” he said.

The political scientist also warned about imminent dangers presented as “achievements.” According to him, the opening of the Margara checkpoint is not for Armenians but for Azerbaijanis, so they can freely reach Turkey.

Regarding the pension increase planned from April 1, Ghevondyan described it as “legitimate electoral bribery” aimed at deceiving vulnerable groups once again.
